Midtown Café
On a quiet Sunday mid-afternoon my family was on a search for something new to fill the serious hunger void we were experiencing.
Having a craving for a towering sandwich type lunch was proving to be an exhaustive search in the area. We found it. Midtown Kitchen & Coffee in Paris has some pretty amazing choices and a pretty great view.
I opted for the Brooklyn Beef, towering high with coffee rubbed beef, caramelized onions and aged cheddar on a sesame seed bun served alongside a pile of waffle cut kettle chips and pickle spear. This was the sandwich that definitely filled my hunger void. The messy juice dripping down my arm and the full 2 arm hunch over the table hit the spot!
My husband chose the NY Pastrami which was just as impressive topped with layers of smoked pastrami, extra aged cheddar piled between sourdough rye also served along with the kettle chips and pickle.
Lastly, our kidlet chose the footlong, far too large for him to finish.
The add your own condiments bar was full of great toppings and dressings for your sandwiches as well as some shakers that made for an awesome addition on the waffle cut kettle chips!
The menu also boasts some NY style classics like bagels, pizza, pretzels, and some delicious apple fritters (which I couldn’t resist) but also serves an impressive selection of coffee, tea and caffeinated beverages.
The seating area is cozy and on a busy day I can see having trouble getting a table but the views from the back of the restaurant overlooking the Grand River are fantastic. The trio of restaurants in the building –Stillwaters upstairs and Trattoria at Midtown downstairs- clearly have the best patios on the Paris downtown strip.
Paris is easily becoming a great option for so many different food choices for breakfast, lunch or dinner so the next time you are looking for something different that you can’t put your finger on.....keep Midtown Cafe in mind.
