Another One Bites The Dust
And with coffee in hand and a yawn on my face another Deliciously Bitchy Night In has left me sleepy and overwhelmed with the amount of support this night is gaining.
This was a "trying" one for me. Several times I felt like all the cards were against me and with every new day came a new challenge but as I was reminded "everyone always has fun and will never know the difference"
The aftermath of posts and thank-you's and all around great feedback makes the months of planning worth it.
The night for me starts Tazmanian Devil style and somewhere along the way morphs into chatting with friends, welcoming new ones or trying to keep things on track.....then at the end of the night, I realize I haven't eaten a thing. I'm pretty sure I got a piece of cheese that I started then got distracted chatting and plopped it on my sister's plate.
If you weren't there...you missed a hell of a night if I do say so myself! I was afraid of the Thursday night booking but turns out, it was fully packed! Along with all the amazing food, this time around I had also asked some local friends to come and chat about the organizations they belong to and what they do for the local Brantford community.
Since this is (currently) a completely free event except for the food you bring, all raffle ticket money was donated to one of my guest speakers, Juliana, on behalf ot The Brantford Rotary Club.
Along with Juliana there was Avery from Shop Brantford and my newest #bloggersunite friend Mark from Jane&Jury and Paris Lectures. Another Rotarian Shaun Mulrain complimented the night by being not only our incredible background music but also as my personal MC for the evening! (I may seem outgoing and like a loud presence but I truly hate speaking and being the centre of attention)
Our host location of Mash Paddle was the perfect backdrop for the night. An incredible space serving up incredible local craft beers. I had concerns over my wine drinking friends not being adventurous enough to take on a beer BUT....I saw a few in hand! A big thank you goes out to Matty and Teddy for providing the space to showcase the local goodness.
The full foodie experience will require a photo album on it's own but I feel the need for some special shout out's for without them, I couldn't have pulled it off!
To Keri and Lisa for their amazing patience, listening skills, set up abilities, calming effects, brain, list making abilities, set up/clean up crew and all around truly great friendships.
To Jo for her listening skills, talk down from the edges, creativeness, set up skills, wash my dishes, pick up essentials and all around amazing sisterness. Along with Kevin for slugging, slinging and driving a frantic maniac running out of time.
To my Scotty for realizing how incredibly crazy but passionate I am about this project and just saying "ok" to anything and everything I needed.
To all the donations that came in...again another full post to come later.
To everyone that showed up! Old friends, new friends, foodie friends, sick friends....you name it, they came!
I had a lot on my "plate".
Even though it's potluck style and no actual food to make, this took some time to pull together, slightly more than the last 2. If I have forgotten anyone at all...I am truly sorry.
From seeing the morning after posts...this appears to be an "in demand" event. I think the words "why am I doing this??" had come out of my mouth on more than 10 occasions but after reading through all of them.......stay tuned for #4......
